Haiti is the western one-third of
the tropical Caribbean
island of Hispaniola,
covered in a blanket of
rough and mountainous terrain.
Slightly smaller than the
state of Maryland,
Haiti is the poorest
nation in the
Western Hemisphere
where 80% of the population
live in abject poverty.
Despite these conditions,
the Haitians are a
hopeful, proud and
inspiring people.
Their positive outlook
on life is reflected
in both their
art and their music.

But day after day,
malnutrition and disease
is all-consuming.
Medical care is desperately needed
to free the people of Haiti from their
relentless pain and suffering.

Haiti is a place of conflicting emotions... the trash, the dirt, the poverty, contrasted to the brilliant hues of the Haitian art-- the lush greenery of the images placed on the walls-- the bright, cheerful dreams of how Haiti was, or how Haiti should be...

Haiti is a place of beautiful people... beautiful people plagued with the lack of basic human needs, desperate for relief.
When viewed as a whole, assistance seems futile.
What can one small group do?
What can one
individual do to make a difference here?

The answer is plenty.
